9 unique spaces for our fury friends

Pets. Most of us have them, or at least dream about having them. They bring in life (and of course chaos sometimes) to our home, they’re always there for you. That’s why they deserve a special place, not some hideaway. It is important for them to have a safe space where they can rest and sometimes hide if they don’t want to be around.

I found some great pictures where interior designer had to include room for pets and they did a good job. Enjoy!

Umbau eines Reihenmittelhauses aus den 70er Jahren
Very practical and space saving solution. So you not falling over the pets bowls and kids have no excuse to splash their water. Because you only take the drawer out when it’s lunch time. Clever.
Home in Toronto 8
Those who loves walking their dogs know exactly how muddy and dirty they can get. Having a shower that is comfortable both for the owner and the dogs – is a life saver!
dogs dream
Utility room includes not only washing machine and dryer, but also a dog shower and a cozy dog bed. Very pet-friendly.
Seaside whimsy in Centerville, MA
Love the use of the side of the island. And especially the bone-shaped drawers openings!

Great use of the space under the stairs.

Another use of under the stairs space.

I just couldn’t left this behind. Grand opening for the fury friends.

Feature wall – what does it mean to me?

What is a feature wall? It started as a wall/part of the wall/two walls painted in different/contrast colour than the rest of the room.

Is that all? Not to me. I feel that the name ‘feature wall’ cannot be used for only that described above. Why? Because there are so much more you can do to your space. So many more ways to make that FEATURE wall really stand out.

Murals/chalkboard/geometric stencils/your own art/ombre paint/timber art/photo wall, etc.

In this post I will try to show some examples.

A Coruña for rent?
No hard edges. A bit more than half wall soft painted bright lemon yellow.
 Trousdale Residence
Ashgrove house
In fact, it doesn’t even have to different colour. If you prefer monochrome – just add a little bit of dynamic by including different texture/matt vs gloss.
Black Natural Stone Wall Feature Living Room
Black stone feature wall is good example of contrast colour AND texture. Though beware – it needs space: the bigger the stone/wood tiles – the bigger the room must be. Otherwise you’ll get lost in scale.
Master Suite
Dreamy cloud wallpaper in neutral bedroom.
Richmond
Don’t want to touch the walls? No problem – paint the inside of the bookshelf/display. A pop of colour will brighten the room.
Minneapolis
This uniqueness was achieved by applying a rust activator to a reactive metallic paint.
Monochrome Bedroom Design - White Bed
Black is the perfect background for the artwork.
Registe
Painting vertical stripes in different shades: simple solution for a very modern look!
Bibliotheque Project - Modern Country Home, Herts
Shimmer and shine! This accent wall reflects the light perfectly and is perfect for a small windowless room.
White Pine Canyon 2014
This one is great for a kids room. Can be a weekend’s project – lots of preparation, but fun and easily-manageable otherwise.
Family Home on a Drive to the Heath
Backboard-paint wall. And every day it can be different drawing or writing. Surprise yourself!
Boston Brownstone
A wall made of recycled wine crates? Why not!
Portland Apartment
Another very inexpensive, but impressive (and also one of my favourite) way to dress your wall.
Chic Dining
My Houzz: Fun and Happy Colors for a Northern California Home
Ombré Mountain Nursery
Three different takes on Ombre wall. It can be very artistic, very modern, very chic or playful – you choose!
Pierce Street
Watercolour wall. Unique and abstract painting made by dipping paintbrush to the water.
Gioi Tran
Flying bird stickers. This wall definitely catches the eye.
